![]() I'm sure they don't want customers spending money on STEAM for games developed by META! lol ![]() Though I'm sure Apple will only want you playing 'games' they might decide to offer (and profit from). ![]() Where you'll also be completely dependent on Apple for what media is available, and even what they'll LET you do with the hardware.įor instance I don't see any reason why it COULDN'T operate as 'standard VR' device, and stream games from Steam just like the Quest does. Though as for the AVP, I'm just amazed that people are excited about spending $3500 for an advanced media consumption device. Oh, is that related to the whole green bubble / blue bubble 'controversy' I've heard about recently? Research RCS open standard and Apple's blocking of it for their own proprietary iMessage app for years to increase profits, So naturally, I do the everyday stuff on phone/PC/TV, and save the Quest 3 for AR/VR games and experiences. It's just an inferior experience to the comfort of no headset and a big monitor/TV. Quest even got Microsoft Word, a netflix app (revolutionary lol), etc. I mean, I could do nearly all the stuff in the AVP demo video on Quest. But so long as it is ski goggles being strapped to your face, the best use case for these type of headsets will be games and experiences - where the $499 Quest 3 absolutely destroys the AVP in controls and content. This type of "everyday stuff" use case only becomes fruitful when the device is something as light and ergonomic as a pair of eyeglasses. The only reason I use it is because those AR/VR experiences are vastly different than what you can do without the headset. And at no point is it more comfortable than no headset and a screen. I play AR/VR daily on a headset lighter and more ergonomic than the Apple Vision Pro, and by the end of 2.5-3hrs I am really in bad shape (meaning pain). This headset, and most others on the market, are not comfortable to wear for 2 hours+ - or even more than an hour. The main problem is, the form factor/ergonomics isnt there yet for a virtual big screen in your room to be a good use case. ![]() On the positive side, I guess there's room for improvement.Ī Guided Tour of Apple Vision Pro - YouTube I'm thinking this is a lot worse than anyone knew or thought. Now that I've read about the limitations of what you can do with in a in particular it doesn't seem like it can play VR Videos only Spacial Videos. If I sit 2 inches from my monitor, it looks like a big screen and similar to the AVP it still lacks a lot of what great with a REAL large screen like I have from my projector setup. after watching the guided tour it really seems it's only good for making a simulated big screen in your room and making you look extra goofy on Facetime. ![]() I admit I tend to buy anything and everything Apple and was and still am curious about the AVP. ![]()
